Speed Painting Masterclass - December 7th and 8th 2019

James Griffiths, Lead Belt Studio’s resident painter, is ready to teach you how to paint great looking models in a matter of hours, using a wide range of techniques and effects.

This ticket Includes:

  • Entry to the painting masterclass on both days

  • Various free miniatures to practice techniques on

  • The opportunity to have an airbrushing lesson, on the Saturday or Sunday evening, after the main course time has ended.

Saturday is an intensive introduction to speed painting’s basics. Participants will explore the theory behind speed painting techniques, as well as experimenting on various models in practical painting exercises:

  • Planning and sub-assemblies

  • Light and zenithal highlighting

  • Airbrush and rattle cans for pre-highlighting and further detail

  • Contrast, glazes and tone

  • Minimal, selective highlighting

On Sunday participants will add extra detail to the models they’ve worked on. James will share a range of tricks, techniques and unexpected materials that can be used to enhance your speed painting:

  • Adding gore and battle damage

  • Quick masking

  • Effective metallics

  • Special effects

  • Unconventional materials

  • And much more!

James will provide one-to-one advice and support to all participants throughout.

There will be various paints and tools provided, as well as models to work on, but participants should feel free to bring any of their own paints that they’d like to experiment with. There are also some essentials that you should bring:

  • Maxium participants: 14 people

  • Age: 16+

  • Suggested painting level: Suitable for anyone

  • What to bring: Paint brushes, any paints you’d like to use. Optional - a daylight lamp and a hair dryer.
